HELP, I NEED SOMEBODY

I need help. Luke is getting too big for me to pick up and I don't know how to discipline him anymore. Hugs and timeouts don't seem to be working. Pepper spray and tasers, unfortunately, aren't an option.

Does anyone have good discipline books to recommend? I will order them today if they are good.

  3. My kids elementary school uses this book :

    http://www.amazon.com/1-2-3-Magic-Effective-Discipline-Children/dp/1889140163/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1279832475&sr=8-1

They ask the parents to read it too so that everyone is on the same page for discipline. It has worked well for me.

  5. I highly recommend, "ScreamFree Parenting," by Hal Edward Runkel. I ordered the book on C.D. and it's really good.

  6. I've heard Scream Free Parenting is good. My mom swears by a Skousen book she used for my brother, So You Want to Raise a Boy. here

  7. Emily loves the book "Parenting With Love and Logic". She got it from Kirsten and it's also on the recommended book list from the foster/adoption agency here in San Francisco. Another one she likes is "Positive Discipline A-Z" by Jane Nelsen (et. al)

I've only read bits of both that Emily shows to me and they seem great.

  10. The only book that has helped change Abby's behavior and my thinking on dicipline and how to properly dicipline is "The Power of Positive Parenting." By Glenn I. Latham. It is as large and reads like a textbook but covers every stage of life. Good luck!

  11. 1-2-3 Magic is great (we used this method when I worked at a children's shelter in Barrow Alaska)

Power of Positive Parenting is good (I have it and I agree it does read like a textbook)

    Christlike Parenting

I have a great parenting seminar DVD that is SERIOUSLY GOOD. Its called Scream Free Parenting. Its a 4 video series. I send it around to all my friends (seriously, its never at my house. Its been around the neighborhood to all my friends and I've mailed it to Utah, So-Cal and right now its in Oregon). Its a product we sell on Amazon too but its really expensive but I promise WORTH EVERY PENNY. If you want to buy it, I'll sell it to you at cost and ship it out tomorrow. Lemme know! We also sell the textbook so either one, let me know.

Or if you want to wait until I get it back from my friends, I can send it then...but it will probably be a few months. Its the best parenting product out there and the only one we sell b/c its that good.

  14. The only discipline book you need to read is Madelyn Swift's "Getting it Right With Children: Discipline for Life"

It's amazing and will change your life completely and immediately.

  15. Hi. I am not a professional, just a mom, with a boy diagnosed with ADD. Have you considered this re Luke? With understanding, love, patience, we worked this out and now my son, a lovely 30-year-old man, is quite a guy and I am exceedingly proud of him. But there were times when I wondered if we would ever reach this place. Good Luck with Luke.
