THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO HMMMM...

Notice anything strange about this commercial? Maybe this is old news, but I saw it for the first time tonight and thought, "Hmmmm, that's interesting..."

  1. He has gotten bolder hasn't he......thats too bad. Maybe he needs to watch himself in Hoops again.

  2. Isn't his name Kirby? Or was that a character that he played? Anyway I could be wrong but I think I remember that he was on a bunch of billboards here in Utah and they took them down after this commercial aired.

  3. I watched that twice and still didn't know what you were talking about, until I read the other comments. It's one of those things you would never expect. I wasn't even looking for him. WHAT'S THE WORLD COMING TO!?

  4. Is that Kirby?! Sad that his career has taken him to do beer commercials. I guess there's only so many mormon flicks you can do.

  5. I'd heard about the commercial, but had never seen it. Of course, I do live in Utah -- why would they ever show that commercial with an icon in it?!

  6. I was watching trying to figure it out cause I had no idea what they were doing, and then I was like, "wait isn't that kerby?" That's bad if it is.. I was telling some girl that I don't think "Napolean Dynomite" is active because of movies he was doing, and she got REALLY mad I said that.. sad. That's what happens to a lot of actors.

  7. It's Kirby!!!!

Sometimes you gotta do what pays the bills.

Good thing he doesn't actually drink it but he is toeing the line supporting it. I've got a friend who wrote the soundtrack to a popular Heineken commercial. He just wrote a song that's being used to sell beer. Blood and sins of the generation...

I must admit, sometimes I feel funny when our stores sell items that aren't in line with the word of widsom or that we know don't work like they say they do. Is that honest? Up to us.

Did anyone notice in Saints and Soldiers when he was the cigarette smoking (probably fake for the movie) French pilot? I thought that was interesting, too, just for the image he portrayed. Up to him.

  8. cristin, you don't even know, that was all the talk up here for awhile! :) the biggest scandal we've had in a bit, I dare say. He is no longer the spokesman for DearElder.com and they where his face used to be on the billboard is a big empty space saying "who should be our next spokesman?"
It's funny you put this up because I was JUST thinking about this the other day...he had made a comment in an article I read about how he and his wife considered doing this commercial a huge blessing and answer to prayer. So there you go, I actually wouldn't judge him, but I feel bad for him that he can't get enough other work that he has to start doing beer commercials to support the fam.

  10. So I didn't notice it was Kirby or that it was beer. I thought the whole point was that these guys are gay and the beer world was being bold. Watch the party at the end...it totally looks like a gay party. Not that I've been to one, but there are two chicks hanging out and the guys look really friendly walking into the party. I thought they were about to hold hands.

"Oh Kirby, you are so cute...but Don't Drink Beer with the Same Mouth that you Kiss your Momma With! it just ain't right."

  12. Personally, I like beer commercials, because it means that my television watching is being paid for by someone else. Yea, free TV!
I think people who have opinions about other people's decisions should die in a fire. But that's just me.

  13. It's called 'free speech', man. Unwittingly, YOU just voiced YOUR opinion about other people's decision to voice THEIR opinions. Better check the batteries in your smoke alarm tonight!!! The old 'when you're pointing at someone three fingers are pointing right back at you' thing bit you in the behind. For all it's worth, I think that your decision to read 'Life of Pi' was a good one. (But stay away from me with that lighter!)

  14. Cristin, I love you...you just post something that you know will stir up interesting reactions, and then read all of the comments you get...it cracks me up! It took me a few tries to figure out exactly why this clip made you go "Hmmmm..." but once I did, I had to laugh. Good job!!
