These questions have been on my mind a lot lately:

1. Why is Rudy Giuliani the leading candidate for the GOP nomination? (Please don't say it's because he was the mayor of New York during 9/11. That explanation makes no sense because Bush was the President during 9/11 and people don't like him.)

2. Why do people like Kucinich, Brownback, and Ron Paul invest millions of dollars to run for office when they have no real chance of winning?

3. Time Magazine reported that Judith Giuliani (Rudy's 3rd wife) must always have a seat on an airplane reserved for "Baby Louis" (that's the nickname she gave her Louis Vuitton handbag). Why doesn't Rudy make his wife stop doing that? It makes her look like a ding dong that can't relate to a normal person.

4. Carbon credits are stupid. As someone once pointed out, it's like finding an excuse to abuse your child in the U.S. and then buying credits for people in other countries to treat their children well so that you feel less guilty about your own bad behavior. Why do people keep promoting the idea of carbon credits when they are obviously seriously flawed?

5. Hilary and Bill - marriage of convenience or true love?

  1. Answers:
    1. Because Giuliani is perceived as being the only candidate who can defeat Hillary Clinton, and the Republican base will do anything to avert a President Hillary. (Whether he can beat her is questionable, given that he was behind in the polls when he dropped out of their Senate race.)
    2. People like Kucinich and Paul (and now Alan Keyes, too) are running because they are committed to a vision. People like Brownback, Huckabee, and Hunter are running because they hate Mormons.
    3. Giuliani is relying on being liberal enough to get the cosmopolitan Republican vote that hates the redneck wing of the party and also being anti-terror enough to get the redneck Republican vote even though he’s got tons of personal baggage. His wife’s current image might actually help him with his first constituency.
    4. Carbon credits help rich people feel better without having to change their lifestyles. They ride in the same cars and use the same private jets, but they pay someone else to do the caring for the environment they want to force you to do by law.
    5. Convenience. Painfully so.

  2. Rudy Giuliani is the leading candidate because he cleaned up New York City and the people love him for it. Bill recently said that Hilary has the best laugh that he has ever heard. So maybe it's convinient love!
